Our Lifetime Care Commitment is to provide the highest level of care for all canines accepted into our program. Those who complete training and are partnered with a firefighter-handler get their dream job: working and training in the hands of a dedicated professional, and enjoying the ultimate canine-human bond.
For those dogs that are recruited for urban disaster search but do not quite have all of the characteristics required for this tough job, SDF finds a new home for every one of them—either as a pet with a loving Lifetime Care family, or as a working dog in a new career. SDF stays in touch with the family or service agency and continues to act as the dog’s advocate, making sure that he is receiving excellent care in a healthy and happy environment.
