SDF-trained team deploys to assist recovery efforts in aftermath of Texas flooding

In the wake of catastrophic flooding across parts of Central Texas, search efforts began in affected areas, where first responders worked to locate those who may be trapped or missing.

Among the many resources deployed to the region was SDF-trained search team Jon Munguia & Clifford of California Task Force 2 (CA-TF2) and Los Angeles County Fire, responding as part of the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). Jon and Clifford, along with teammates Celina Serrano & Prentiss, assisted with recovery efforts in some of the hardest-hit areas, where the rising Guadalupe River caused severe damage and left entire communities devastated. Jon, Clifford, Celina, and Prentiss provided support in an additional operational area near Kerrville, TX, extending their deployment up to a total of 18 days.

In addition, SDF handlers Brandon Andersen, Eric Darling, Julie Padelford, Andrew Pitcher, and Adam Schaaf all deployed in various capacities to assist with the search for those still missing. At least 30 canine search teams responded to the region, including federal, state, and locally deployed resources, bringing critical search capabilities from throughout the United States and Mexico in this time of need.

Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this tragedy and we send our deepest thanks to all those who have worked tirelessly to bring closure to the loved ones of those lost.
