Bruno is a 3‑year‑old male chocolate Labrador who brings a whole lot of joy—and usually a toy—to everyone he meets. He was found near a busy highway and then brought to the shelter, but has shown nothing but confidence, friendliness, and steady, easygoing behavior since arriving.
He’s social with everyone, loves to carry his toys around, and has a great retrieve with an easy, willing drop. Despite his big, teddy‑bear build, he’s polite and keeps all four feet on the floor, making him a pleasure to handle.
Bruno also recently completed his orthopedic screening, which showed a shallow hip and a small mineralization near his left shoulder—likely from an old or chronic injury. Even with those findings, he’s currently sound, comfortable, and moving beautifully. None of it slows down his enthusiasm for toys, training, or people.
Bruno could be a great fit for lower impact detection work (not rigorous disaster work due to his hip) — he’s focused, motivated, and zero drama. He’s still new here, so we’re getting to know him, but so far he’s checking all the boxes. He’s stable, motivated, toy‑driven, and has that happy, “let’s do this” attitude that makes training fun.
And if a working career isn’t his path, Bruno would make a fantastic companion. He’s calm and content in the kennel, usually standing at the front with a toy in his mouth and a nonstop wagging tail.
