Roxy is a compact, playful yellow Lab with a big personality and an even bigger heart for engagement. She brings enthusiasm, confidence, and a playful intensity to everything she does—especially when toys are involved.

During her time with us, Roxy has built an impressive foundation. She is reliable both on and off leash, understands and responds to multiple markers, and has developed a strong communication system with her handler. She’s social, environmentally confident, and genuinely enjoys being part of the action, whether that’s training sessions, hikes, or exploring new places.

While Roxy will not be adopted into a US&R home, she comes with all of the great skills of a US&R dog: on- and off-leash heeling, emergency stop, agility, direction and control, and an out-of-sight long wait. We will continue to keep these skills sharp until she is adopted. This level of training, along with regular conditioning in the gym, helps keep her mentally and physically engaged and ready for whatever comes next.

Roxy comes fully vetted, with normal hip, elbow, and spine X-rays.

One of Roxy’s standout traits is her toy drive and playful antics. She loves to play—especially interactive games like tug—and thrives in those moments of connection. She also has a natural instinct to hunt and enjoys scent-based challenges, approaching them with a thoughtful, methodical style.

Roxy has trained in detection work, and while she has the skills and ability to do the job, we’ve learned that her long-term motivation for high-demand search work can fluctuate. She has shown she can do the work, but she doesn’t necessarily need a demanding working role to be fulfilled. What matters most to Roxy is having an engaged partner and meaningful outlets for both her brain and body.

That said, Roxy could be a wonderful fit for lower-stakes detection work where periodic shifts in focus aren’t a deal breaker. She enjoys odor work and problem-solving, and with the right expectations, could thrive in a setting that values the process as much as the outcome.

Because of this, we see Roxy thriving in a home that enjoys training and activity for the sake of connection—not just performance. She would excel with someone who wants a capable, responsive dog to take on adventures, explore scent work or obedience, or simply build a strong working partnership without the pressure of a full-time job.

Roxy is a fun-loving, charismatic dog who has learned a lot during her time with us. She’s ready for someone who appreciates her drive, her communication, and her ability to meet them in whatever work—or play—they choose to do together.
