Laura has been a veterinarian for the Santa Barbara/Carpinteria community for the last 20 years. She is a graduate of UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and UC Santa Barbara. She is currently Medical Director at VCA Carpinteria Veterinary Hospital.
Laura was introduced to SDF during the Montecito mudslides in 2018. She was part of a small group of local veterinarians who volunteered to provide medical care to the search dogs before and after their daily searches. Firsthand, she witnessed the importance of their work, the tireless effort of the first responders and their canine partners, the incredible bond the handlers and dogs have with each other, and the dedication the handlers and SDF showed towards the dogs’ welfare.
Laura is a lifelong animal lover, passionate about veterinary medicine and fostering the human-animal bond. She feels privileged to be part of the SDF Board of Directors and the collaborative effort to ensure that all dogs who go through the program receive excellent medical care throughout their lives. Laura currently lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, three teenagers, her rescue dogs (Larry and Pinto), and cats (Deedle, Pickles, and Lyssa).
