Jessie Finds a Home and Purpose with Her New Dog Trainer Dad

Jessie was found as a stray in Central California and taken to the local animal shelter, where she was placed on the euthanasia list because the shelter was over capacity. Luckily, shelter staff noticed Jessie’s tenacity and insatiable desire to play and contacted SDF. Jessie was evaluated and accepted into the search program, but her time at the shelter was running out, and she needed an immediate exit plan. Enter our incredible partners at Angel Flight West, who swooped and got Jessie her freedom flight—she was soon out of the shelter and on her way to SDF!

Although Jessie had a ton of drive and was a quick learner, ultimately, she let us know that search and rescue work wasn’t for her. Instead, we began looking for an active pet home for Jessie where her love of play could be nurtured to help her meet her full potential.

After several months of sharing about Jessie on our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages, where we detailed her great personality and love of all things sport, Frank, a local dog trainer looking for a second dog to add to his family, was conducting an online search. He typed, ‘high drive dogs near me’ into his Google web browser, and up popped Jessie’s profile!

Frank traveled to SDF to meet Jessie, and they hit it off. Jessie (now Mamba) shares a home with Frank and dog pal Kouda and goes to work every day with Frank at the dog training facility where he works. She is having the time of her life in her busy new role, staying active and engaged by learning new skills as Frank’s demo dog and meeting new human and canine friends.

We are so grateful to our SDF family, whose support helped Jessie find her perfect forever home. Thanks to our generous community, Jessie is living the wonderful life she deserves, filled with love, play, and a purpose that fuels her spirit.
