SDF recruits high-drive shelter dogs from across the United States and gives them a second chance and forever family through our disaster search program. Many of these special dogs will become certified urban search and rescue canines paired with first responders to help communities after disasters. Others will thrive in alternative careers or as cherished companions in an active pet home. No matter where they find fulfillment, they won’t do it alone!
The search begins with you, the caring community of donors who will help SDF recruit and care for rescued dogs by supporting this year’s Rachael Ray Rescue Brigade campaign.
We aim to raise $600,000 by September 15, and The Rachael Ray Foundation™ has generously granted $270,000 to get us well on our way to our goal.
Your donation to SDF will allow us to:
- Engage over 200 shelters and rescues nationwide to find, evaluate, and transport more dogs to our National Training Center.
- Train canine recruits to search for survivors and aid the work of rescue crews.
- Find an alternate placement of their choice if they decide disaster search isn’t for them.
- Care for our high-drive dogs throughout their lives. From providing daily essentials to funding medical treatments, SDF ensures all dogs in our family receive excellent care and never need to be rescued again.
Together, we can help rescued dogs on their journeys to a new life of fulfillment and love. Be part of the search by making a life-saving gift to the Search Dog Foundation before September 15.

The Rachael Ray Foundation is one of our most generous supporters. The Foundation is funded by the proceeds from the sale of Rachael Ray™ Nutrish®. Through March 2025, more than $120 million has been donated to animal charities and other organizations through The Rachael Ray Foundation and its predecessor entity.
We are thrilled that The Rachael Ray Rescue Brigade will shine a spotlight for the ninth consecutive year on this vital part of our mission and excited for the fund’s ability to directly impact the number of homeless dogs that will be given a lifetime of care as part of our SDF family.
